I find such a world-view incomprehensible. I wonder what motivates such behaviour? Rage? Fear? I don't know. I've always thought it was more selfishness. Maybe some fear mixed in. I really don't know. We can all be insensitive to things we don't know and can't relate to simply out of ignorance. And because we're busy and don't notice. And because it's inconvenient. But once the matter is brought to our attention, it seems to be that even a rebuff is better than indifferent denial. Indifference must come from a very cold place.
