It was not a lie....he simply stated the fact inartfully....It always amazes me the lenght pinheads will go to criticize Bush's linguistic shortcomings but accept all of BJ Billy Bubba's parsings without question.....it is a hypocrisy without equal....

It is possible that 50 or 100 years from now the historians who were not here to live through this could agree with your point, by literally connecting the dots. However, the adults who listened to Bush at the time he said this, understood what was happening and the essence of what he had to say. There was no deceit intended nor was anyone mislead by his statements. No deceit = No lie. To revisit it as deceit is making a false accusation. A false accusation = a lie.
