RtS and all, I like this new acronym WOW [wall of worry]. May I add an item?

"my 400 mhz pc running windows 95 is perfectly adequate, so nobody needs to upgrade"

Gottfried :)

<the economy is doing well despite the WOW >

Hmmmm. I am more of the opinion that the economy is doing well as a direct result of many of the actions/items on the WOW list.

You can buy a car for zero% interest for 5 years.

You can buy a house at historic low interest rate. Or you can refinance the equity in your current house out at cheap rates.

You can transfer and roll your Credit card balance out a year at will. And get zero % as an incentive for switching companies.

Retail stores have the "Best prices EVER!" sale weekly. Do you see anything that isn't 30% off?

The Resident sent out $400 per child rebate checks.
--------------------------------------------------------

The consumer is flush with pocket cash, access to cheap credit, and Retailors/Manufacturers are willing to heap incentives on the consumer to entice sales.

The perfect environment for expansion. UNTIL Greenspan yanks the "free money" rug from under these people. And he will, and the consumer will be deeper in the hole they are currently digging for themselves.
