A republican friend of mine was railing against home depot and wal mart the other day. Saying how they were driving the little guys out of business. I said, “By offering lower prices? How is that bad?” My friend said, “Because they’re monopolies.”

Generally, people form opinions on the fly using whatever shortcut is available. It is usually a short trip to uncover a belief formed on a fallacy. I’m not immune to doing it as well. Usually I don’t react too badly when my fallacies are pointed out.
