Nice to see Iraq improving exports steadily.

Iraq Oil Output At 1.75 Million B/D Aug 28

DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

BAGHDAD -- Iraqi oil production on August 28 reached 1.75 million barrels a day, with the daily exports from the southern ports reaching 800,000 b/d, an official source at the Iraqi oil ministry said.

The official said that production from the northern fields has exceeded 500,000 b/d, while the country is producing around 1.2 million b/d from the southern fields.

The source explained that the increase in production has been due to an improvement to facilities in the South.

There are also plans to implement further projects to construct and rehabilitate the damaged Iraqi oil installations so that production can be increased further.

The ministry source hopes that the projects will allow oil production to reach 2 million b/d by the end of this year, and 2.8 million b/d by April 2004, when the ministry hopes it will have finished the construction and rehabilitation operations.
