I think Kerry is in for the very long haul. I don't see these numbers as a big problem. Clearly it will cut down on his fund raising for the moment but I don't think it raises serious long term issues for him.

Best I can tell, there are more folk out there that are simply fed up with Bush than was anticipated. And Dean's admittedly in your face campaigning style is what they want to hear. I think it not only goes over well with the faithful, it could also bring out folk who've not been voting in recent presidential elections.

Dean's biggest problem is that the Dem establishment is not only not with him but may be trying to, as quietly as possible, slow his campaign. We won't see that; or at least are unlikely to do so. But that might hurt.

Whispers around that Clinton likes Wesley Clark are the kinds of things I have in mind. And the Clark campaign stuff could be some sort of Dem establishment move. Oh, I know, I'm reaching but I don't think it's reaching to see the Dem establishment as worried about a Dem candidacy and looking for ways to slow it down.
