Posting on a message board is a [privilege, right, other]
.
Words privilege & rights to describe the Bux v. iHub conflict
have replaced the word access, causing many to view this
discussion more as personal judgements rendered between
two people, each trying to occupy the same space.
.
Imagine a single chair called Truth & Righteous such that
whom sits there controls the event being disputed between
these two people, having opposites in opinions.
.
Currently Matt sits in the chair.
.
Question to ask if the words privilege and rights do not apply,
but the word access does, is to answer "for what."
.
Rather than describe the activity, its better to back-up
and describe the object that holds such actions to take place.
.
But then why describe the object when a further step backwards
can identify another entity that makes it more clear whats happening.
.
(reversed or backwards description)
- ability to post on iHub
- iHub is a message board
- iHub is a business
.
If one views this discussion as Bux v. a business
then the words privilege and rights seem more in place
with events like education, speech, information, etc
but if one describes a business no different than Wal-Mart
or a Mom & Pop store that gives you the ability to enter
their home-made-into-small-shop, then privilege & rights
don't seem to describe the model of a business where
the purpose is a transfer of values using barter or fiat.
.
iHub provides access to the message boards for either
that cash membership, or limited access with ads.
.
Since Wal-Mart is non-membership, lets use one of those
wearhouse membership places like BJ's or Sam's.
.
Your cash membership allow you access, to walk around
and have the ability to purchase items.
.
If you enter and stink up the place...
sorry,
to subjective,
so lets use Bux's Once on iHub as an objective case :o)
.
I enter BJ's and don't shout or use a loud voice, and the words
that i speak are those used in a church, but i talk talk talk
and say say say the same over and over non stop...
.
Yes, I believe you will be shown the door or have the Sheriff
arrive to investigate a person Distrubing the Peace.
.
Golly, but who decides the peace is hurt?
.
Maybe its not an issue of priviledge or rights,
but the mood & wants of the customers to be keep happy.
.
Decided by the store in its determination that their business
is hurt by the manner this Bux babbles, in the eyes of the store.
.
"Whats good for General Motors is good for America."
.
"Whats bad for iHub's business plan is a no-brainer to eliminate."

That's exactly my point!

"Not, of course, that anyone would actually sue a message board, nor even threaten to. Nobody would ever do anything like that."

The $129 lifetime subscription is priced low enough that it would never be worthwhile for a reasonable person to take iHub to court to force them to honor the terms of the contract and yet, $129 is just enough to make me feel really foolish for being so gullable.

In hindsight it's pretty obvious that once the lifetime subscription is purchased, the owners have no compelling reason to keep the paid-up customers happy. But a new fool is born every minute, I just never thought I would be that fool.

CH,

But don't ever, for a moment, think that the purchaser who pays for a membership has not purchased any rights with their payment.

The difference between a right and a privilege where message boards are concerned would be a subject for debate in itself.

I believe I purchased a privilege. You believe you purchased a right.

Either way, you can post until the admin of the site believes you violated the terms of use.

Matt is one the owners and admin of Ihub. He believes Bux violated the terms of use and suspended him. It is up to Bux to negotiate a release from jail. If he doesn't he will be fodder for the frypot one Fryday.

Have fun,
Phil
