Hi Mac. I can see why people like to move to Rancho Santa Fe town. It's a nice place. A bit funny in some ways - all the soccer Mom's with a huge fleet of SUVs of latest upmarket versions down at the footy field. It's an oasis of hoped-for perfection in a world of MADness. But in some ways it's a bit too perfect. A bit too try-hard. Too uniform. Almost sterile. But I think it would be a nice place to live.

I spent a few hours there one day, having a coffee and eats at a place whose name escapes me, but it had a large forecourt of outdoor seating on the main drag, seeing the lay of the land, how people are, watching passersby. Plus going to the supermarket. Good quality stuff but horrendously expensive. I like supermarkets. I'm a supermarket tourist. I walked all around the place, seeing how it ticks. Drove along every street. Twisty, windy little avenues of tranquil paradise.

I had a look at the RSF golf course too. It looked really nice, but I didn't have time to go and do a whizz there. I'm also a toilet tourist and appreciate a fine facility. Anyway, they might not have welcomed a nosey Kiwi. But I dare say they would [people seemed very nice all over the place]. The Bridges has a great big fortress gate, with a guard, so it was only name-dropping which got me in [having been pre-approved as a visitor]. No casual whizzing by tourists at The Bridges.

There is quite a traffic jam in the area around rush hour. That would be annoying. Four way stop signs slow the traffic to a crawl. Have they tried roundabouts? That keeps vehicles moving. You might have seen how many get around the Arc de Triomphe. A mini version of that roundabout with a mini Statue of Liberty in the middle would be a nice addition.

PS: Les pissoirs around Paris are NOT as pleasant or private as le whizzer at The Bridges. But more, ow you zay, le fun.
