If it's "thin gruel", I think all would agree it would get any JCS fired and court-martialled today, if it became public.

That laundry list included murdering American citizens for the purpose of starting a war.

As far as 'they released it', it was released against the wishes of the JCS. All participants were told to destroy their copies, and one individual didn't. McNamara took his copy home for three decades, and in a burst of conscience released it.

As far as 'nothing happened', such detailed secret plans are hardly reassuring.

Whether you want to call it a "vast evil" (your term, not mine), or simply examples of criminal government, like Poindexter's Death Pool, these plans are apparently being created constantly.

These are plans, and people, that this country has no use for, yet are produced out of the wash of $2 trillion extracted from the populace, who are its victims. Giving behavior like that a pass is like letting your vicious neighbor point a rifle at you through the window every evening, because he says, "Don't worry! I haven't shot you yet!".

Why even worry about such vicious, stupid, criminal behavior? Because if gov't officials feel entitled to plan to make war on the citizenry it brings into question the most fundamental issues of our democratic Republic, what are the constitutional and moral limits of those in charge.

If such documents are genuine, it would seem there are none.
