Tim, about what are you talking? Their country is falling apart. This is no time for demonstrations......its a time for digging in and
getting things done. For people to divvy up sections of the water and oil pipelines and protect them until the terrorists understand
they can't get to them. This is a time for people to set up patrols and go thru their neighborhoods to protect their neighbors........God
knows, they have enough guns. There are many pro active, very basic things the Iraqis could be doing that they are not doing. There
is no excuse........they are second to the Iranians in educational levels in the ME. If they love their country, then they need to put out
100%. They are not.....no where close. They want us to do it for them.

This is very true. It is also true that our coordination of these activities is disastrous. We have army officers, lieutenants actually, responsible for as many as 25 townships, in the countryside. They address the grievances of the population in these townships, pay for civil projects in CASH, and even work to setup local adminstrations and elections. What does an army first lieutenant know about setting up a town council in a township in a country whose culture and language could not be anymore different than his/hers. The American people have no idea how screwed up the reconstruction process really is.

I mostly agree with that statement, but I fail to see its relevance to the conversation. We were talking about how much self determination and freedom Iraqis have, not asking what Iraqis should be doing now.
