Basically it comes down to the fact that voting machines aren't perfect The telling feature is that there are easy and cheap ways to cross check the voting machines. All it needs to do is print a log of each transaction which could be checked later if questions arise. (The log would be internal, not some ticker tape spilling out on the floor). This rather reasonable feature is being strongly fought. Why? There is no good reason to fight it, so the reason must be less than good. TP
