You didn't include that idea in the text of your original post. As for cross checking features I'm not sure they are being fought so much, or at least by that many people. You can find a couple of individuals or a single company that is fighting just about any idea. Also it may be that the cross check feature is being fought to prevent increased cost, or that its a specific way to check that is being fought because the vendor or the purchaser wants another method, or if you really need something at least slightly sinister it could be that the vendor helps to sell these machines and then sell another batch of improved machines with such a feature at a later date hoping to make double the sales. Or it could be some other reason. It still amounts to a very thin basis for the theories that you are posting.
