I was having an Iraq discussion with an acquaintance when he voiced a common shibboleth. “Too much is at stake. We can’t cut and run.”

My response was “You don’t understand. Our presence is fueling an ever growing problem. The longer we stay, the bigger the problem. As for “cut and run”, cut what, and run where? If it’s cut losses, and run from an even larger disaster, you bet”
