Question:
If I copy the offending drive to a cleanly formatted drive in the manner like one would copy his working drive to a newly purchased drive, would the DDO also be copied over?

Wanted to thank you for your earlier response and report how the issue was resolved.

The DDO was the problem. But I was looking for the DDO in the wrong place (my original master boot drive) and my brain never got the message to look on the slave drives! I used the fdisk/cmbr routine on both the new and old slave and now find all is working as it should. I left my original master as it was.
