It will be interesting to see if Bush warms up even a little to Powell while distancing himself from the neocons in any way. I agree with you, this script was not his own it came from his advisers. His economic team fed him a line of bull too.

Cheney is the man, his dealings are deep and dirty, the others cower in fear.

It's a scary thought that Bush may believe his lies.
Some kind of brain-washing from Cheney and his neocon crew, whom GW trusts, but who are duplicitous? Elect a tool, get a tool I guess. Kerry is nobody's tool. He even writes most of his own speeches and can speak brilliantly for hours without a script.
