great editorial

Yes it is. So far the British media have been well in advance of their American counterparts. In my own recent diatribes against the American media, I failed to note some encouraging signs. First has been a recent spat of expose books, that have shed light on both the “run up” to 9/11, and the reasons behind the Bush Admin’s policies. Using these books as springboards, both CBS and NBC had some interesting features this past week. Reminding one of the infamous 16 words in the SOTU speech, both of these features had a “the book says” tone, but still much better than we were receiving for far too long. In addition, there was Rather’s interview of von Rumsfeld in Iraq. Again, he used quotes from others to ask some tough questions. He keep smiling, and saying “You know, I have to ask this” to an obviously stunned Rumsfeld.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the American media rejoined the Phylum Chordata?
