God inspired bronze age shepherds to write the oldest parts of the Bible FOR bronze age shepherds. These people had shepherds' vocabularies and bronze age understanding of science. If God had written the "true" story of How He Did It on stone tablets like the 10 commandments, we wouldn't be able to understand it even now.

brent, "God has created all things." Are you saying that God, intentionally, created war, famine, pestilence, slavery, and pornography? The Earth is millions of years old. That is a documented fact. You can wander blindly in the process of trying to fit the age of the world in the 4,000 year age, but you are just fooling yourself, and letting blind faith override intelligence. God did give us intelligence, you know? What are we supposed to do with it? Ignore it? "God made it explicitly clear so you wouldn't have any reason to be confused haqihana!!" He NEVER said that the combination of one period of light, and one period of dark, was only 24 hours long. I have tried to instruct my Christian brethren in many matters regarding the first part of Genesis, and many already thought as I do, and others, when presented with the evidence, saw the light of the truth, and the dark of the uneducated authors of that part of the Bible, working from nothing but oral legends told down through the ages. I don't expect God to sit down and write the Bible, since He didn't write it in the first place. I already said that I believed in the Supreme Deity called God by English speaking people, and that I believe in Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I, totally, believe in Jesus, because I was once a sinner, and He touched me with His own hand when I was on the brink of hell, and about to step in the abyss. The problem with all the religions on Earth, is that none of them will accept flexibility. The rigid posture of all religions, is what has caused all the wars, and tragedies, brought about by those that will not open their eyes, and accept the findings of geologists, anthropologist, archeologist, and learned men of the ages. You do not know, for sure, what the answers are, nor do I, nor anyone else on this planet. It is even said in the Bible, that none of us will know the truth until the last day. You think you know, and your own smug attitude renders you blind.
