Neocon,

Do we really have to re-fight age old political battles? Weren't there some Democrats you liked?

Roosevelt for all his trouble reviving the economy (which he did inherit) clearly saw the evil of Japan and Nazi Germany and started preparing for war. Without this preparation and all the other work behind the scenes - Britain and the war would have been lost.

The parallel with Bush inheriting a recession from a bubble economy is striking. I don't think anyone, least of all these two men, saw them as War Presidents.
