He's on PBS Fresh Air today, one of the few people talking publicly about how omninous the situation has become since the Bushies took over. He sees "irresponsibility at a level never seen before in US politics", financially, civil liberties and foreign policies, to the point where they are "a threat to the American way of life". He quotes Bush mandarin Grover Norquist, who advocates spending the gov't treasury to exhaustion, to "cut down gov't and drown it in the bathtub". When you look at it it's simply cynical GOP cover to justify looting of America on a galactic scale. Krugman says he first started becoming frightened during the '00 campaign when the Bush budget plan for Soc. Security came out to be even more dishonest than the Reagan fraud. Instead of just phony rosy predictions of growth, he says the Bushies simply lie with straight faces about trillions, even when their own documents do things like count trillions in soc. security TWICE, and nobody calls them on it. He says this is because the same media pundits who have great certainty about subjective and irrelevant things like personalities, lapse into uncertainty when it comes to clearly fraudulent budget numbers. The Bushies don't care about unemployment, or the economy. The only protection for the American way of life will come from each of us individually. Those that don't protect themselves against this virulence will end up as slaves to the state.
