From the Microsoft press release:
"The operating systems affected by the latest security vulnerabilities are Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. Older versions of Windows, including Windows Millennium, Windows 98 and Windows 95, are not affected, the company said."

"Another day, another Microsoft hole. When do you consumers finally wake up and try alternative operating systems?"

as far as i'm concerned, a company that is trying to make things better should not be condemned for their effort.

from what i understand, the alternative operating systems can be just as vulnerable, but aren't, because the blackhats aren't bothering with attacking low user base platforms.

my mechanic makes mistakes (and hell, his mistakes could kill me!), but i've been going to him for twenty five years. when he *has* made a mistake, or failed to get something right the first time, he has always made good, and quickly.

show me where there is perfection in anything in this world?

i'm awake, and i like the operating systems i use.

microsoft takes me where i want to go, each day

When do you consumers finally wake up and try alternative operating systems?

1.) When Microsoft gets broken up into 6 companies for squashing people who bundle other OS's. Bought a laptop lately?

2.) When Linux vendors provide an out of the box solution that is as reliable as Windows, that is completely compatible with MSFT stuff and doesn't require the users to don a pair of taped broken glasses, pocket protector and bow tie to operate.

I'm a Linux user, but like it or not Windoze is the best game in town.

I didn't get a single MS Blaster or LoveSan copy but already three mails with variants of this new worm. My antivirus software gdata.de doesn't recognize it yet but issued a generic virus warning. The email containing the infectious attachment (size: about 100 KB) poses as a cumulative Microsoft security patch with deceptive fonts, icons and links to original Microsoft pages. The worm exploits an old vulnerability:
