Thanks, TC. Any ideas about the Live Update problem in NAV 2003 Pro? It runs, but then says I'm up to date which is wrong as per Intelligent Updater. I can download NAV definitions from Intelligent Updater, but not program updates which only work with Live Update. I recall about a week ago, Live Update downloaded some program updates.

TIA,

Marty

"Can it be installed right over NAV Pro 2003?"

respectfully disagree with the advice to uninstall.

i have been following a thread where users have claimed that NAV has uninstalling capability now, that the new version removes the old, and that going in over top has worked quite well.

from the NAV2004pro manual (the one that smells so good), i quote:

"If you have an earlier version of Norton AntiVirus Professional, the new version automatically removes the earlier version. If your version is earlier than 2002, you must uninstall it before installing the new version."

ordinarily i would be of a mind that uninstalling the old could never hurt, that it might even be better, and that it's wiser to be extra thorough.

ordinarily.

but because this is symantec software, and it seems at times to be specifically designed to make select people's lives miserable, i would recommend that the instructions from the manual (remember RTFM?) be adhered to.

what will i do?

well, first i am going to put the OS into pristine shape, then image the whole drive. prior norton installs have taught me the value of full system backups. then i am going to install on top. if it messes up, i can restore.

i also have one little extra consideration, and that is that my NAV2003 is an integral part of NSW2003, so there may be special circumstances involved.
