God would not punish innocent people for the sins of others. I agree and God certainly had nothing to do with it at all. God created man and gave him free will and set things in motion. Why do people think God micro manages the universe? And there is also the will of the evil side of the universe at work. Lucifer and his 1/3rd of the angels that rebelled. And men who choose to follow evil. There are many forces at work that are capable of great evil, including our own government. And the Christian church today, what a mess. I don't even know where to begin on that one.
