As if Bush had not gone to the UN last year and asked for help in fighting terrorism.

Rewriting history, are we! He didn't ask for help, he demanded it on his own terms. Classic my way or the highway stuff. Kaplan is absolutely correct. Bush lost the opportunity to create something very special out of 9-11. Instead he has created an enormous amount of anger at the US.

I seem to be thinking of tek a bit more than I should these days. But in this regard I recall his typing about his concern as to the many ways in which the Bush administration was damaging ties with Europe but thought that damaged had not gone so far as to be irrepairable. I doubt it's irrepairable now; but it's going to take a great deal more surgery. And a first class surgeon.
