I think one of the reasons "costs" are high is that there are only so many people actually paying the tab. The rest are getting it free by various means, which simply amounts to socialized medicine and no real marketplace for innovative health care. Somewhere here there is a dis-connect between cost and benefit that will sink this for everyone (except the VERY rich). There is no incentive for people to care for their health when there is no real cost staring them in the face. It's akin to not changing the oil in the family ride and then expecting the neighborhood to chip in for a new engine. I'm sure in CA that is next on the agenda for the democratic tax manipulators followed or preceded by a "food" program whereby the groceries are guaranteed through a Poor Person's Credit Card. Standby for a more massive influx of "undocumented".
