Peter, There is some good effect to result from the war in Iraq. The cost of that war will probably doom any attempt to make the Bush tax cuts permanent. Republicans in the Senate are very nervous. Their own poll shows the public preferring Democratic candidates by 46% to 40%. With the country facing an 04 deficit between $500 and $600 Billion, there is no way they will vote to make the cuts permanent. Democrats are flexing their muscle.
