I disagree. They are not inconvenient, the people, but the fact that we all have to deal with this whole other construct of sexuality. For example, if you see a guy you find attractive you have always had to find out if he's taken. Now, on top of that, you have to find out if he's gay. That is an added inconvenience, as small one, but still an inconvenience. If you have a new colleague and you and your female colleagues invite her for a girls' night out, you have to consider how she'd feel about going to see the Chipendales. It's a small thing, but it's one more thing to have to deal with. That's why I am prepared to concede inconvenience. Life would be simpler if everyone were straight. I don't think that is much of a put-down, if any, and I think it's a reasonable assessment.
