It was a gutsy move by Dean, and he may overestimate the degree to which many, if not most,Americans are actually informed on the issues there.I'm surprised no one has labeled him Anti- Semitic yet actually.

I think the Dean Palestinian comments will play well, and Lieberman's opinion will be marginalized to special interests.

Maybe in the past Dean's views might have hurt the dems, they needed the pro-Israel special interest money etc. But now with the ME and terrorism on everyone's minds, I think a lot of Americans are tired of being pulled down with Israel on something as meaningless as their illegal settlements. The US is the superpower, not Israel and those settlements have got to go, they are a detriment to peace in the world, and yet our gov't won't do anything about it. Thank you Dean for telling it like it is. Maybe for the primary that comment may hurt Dean a little but for the general election he will win votes.

Good comments!

This desire by the Pals flies in the face of the argument that they do not want peace.

Very true. That is why Palestinian pleas for international mediation have always been suppressed in the U.S. media. The media work hard to keep the cover story alive ...

Incidentally, one can be quite certain that Dean didn't really mean to be neutral. A neutral observer would say the land should be split in half, since the populations are roughly equal. In reality, to propose the Israelis get 75% and the Palestinians get 25% (i.e. UN 242) is considered to be radically pro-Palestinian in most circles.

"Hamas are soldiers" was not gutsy just really-really stupid. That one line disqualifies Dean from ever running against Bush.
