The Supreme Court did not elect Bush POTUS. All they did was speed up a process that was going to take 6 months and as Newspaper studies showed had the exact same outcome. By the way the process I'm talking about is the Electoral College process. Check out your Constitution sometime. Supreme Court or no Supreme Court, the Electoral College selects all Presidents. The Florida Electoral college member voted for Bush period end of story. Gore lost. There are no punch cards in the Electoral College, no hanging chads, in short no nonsense.

SCOTUS remanded a ruling from the lower, activist court that has circumvented the powers of the Florida Legislature and statutes. That had the effect of ending the matter. SCOTUS essential returned integrity to the statutes in place on the day the election was conducted (see the Rule of Law).
