The right-wing has been slamming Hillary for years exaggerating her flaws and ambitions, spreading wild rumors, while ignoring her strengths and virtues. She is senator now and needs to prove herself there. In fact, she's lucky to have that job. The switcheroo to New York was a risky play.

As for Clinton rumors, much more likely that Bill might run against Pataki for Governor next time. He'd win. But in 2004 Bill's play will be to make sure the Dem ticket is tough on defense and has huevos plus a southern element.

Amongst female potential candidates, Diane Feinstein is much more influential and credible than Hillary. But in fact, the Dems wouldn't dare nominate any woman this year. Not even as a Veep. They have to be extremely careful this time, no letting down the testosterone level of the ticket. They're going to get most of the women voters anyway.
