While the vegetation was more lush in Viet Nam, it is the case that the casualty rate in Iraq is at least an order of magnitude lower than it was in Viet Nam.

During the greatest involvement in Viet Nam (approx. 1967-69) the U.S. was suffering on average about 150 deaths per week. Currently I believe our rate in Iraq is something less than 10 deaths per week.
