IT IN NO WAY CLAIMS THE MAN HAS NO EXPERTISE. Imo Pete, you definitely called in to question Kaplan's accounting expertise with the statement below, and that is what I was responding to. And I believe the other two gentleman are eminently qualified to opine on the subject of stock option expensing as well. After all, issuing stock options involves a finance activity. But I will agree with you that we don't have to accept their opinion as the last word on the issue, and that there are other experts that disagree with those authors' opinions. Your statement: The authors of this article (Kaplan, Merton and Bodie) are famous investment experts, not accounting experts. Regards, Huey
