10-day delay

Chiggers don't itch while they are feeding, The itching comes from minor infection after they leave the feeding site. (They feed in hair follicles and leave the tissue in a state that is easily infected). That's why it is too late to kill them when you notice them, all you can do it treat the symptoms.
