I have never gotten any of these scam e-mails. What's wrong with me?

Do you often wear plaid? Just a theory of course.

On a serious note, I also haven't ever used an anti-virus program (well, actually I tried Norton for a while and it screwed up my system so badly I swore never to use it again). I do, however, use a firewall, Zone Alarm, which provides much of the same protection plus additional protection from port scanners (that can make you an unwitting accomplice to spam, and worse). I also have become a firm believer in spy removal software like Ad-aware and Spybot Search & Destroy. Until you've used one (or preferably both), you have no idea the sort of stuff that finds its way quietly onto your system (with your approval, especially if you've ever downloaded free kids software). BTW, all the above have free versions.

Ad-aware: lavasoftusa.com
Spybot Search and Destroy: security.kolla.de
