In Annapolis, we had enough surrounding woodland that deer would come to the periphery of town during droughts (and usually end up roadkill on a highway). When I lived by the Naval Academy, in town, sometimes racoons would turn up. When I moved to the suburbs, I occasionally saw a fox in my yard, among other things. But there were no bears nearby. I do not know about the state forests more or less within the vicinity, but I only knew of bears a couple of hours away in the Blue Ridge......
