Hmmm. Since you seem determined to bolster my basic point- -that in fact Americans are boycotting France in large numbers- -I see no reason to disagree with you. Perhaps the way to put that would be that American tourists in France have declined by AT LEAST 25%. If tourists of other nationalities also declined, the drop would be worse. (OTOH, if the number of other nationalities INCREASED by 1/3, then the number of Americans could stay the same and there would still be a drop in their proportion from 20% to 15%. But the articles seem to indicate tourism to France in toto has dropped, which is consistent with other nations following 911.)

And Iraq is hardly the sole cause of this. The anger of Americans towards France has been building for decades. Iraq was simply the match that set off all that accumulated powder.
