From what I can see around here (South of France) drop in tourist numbers (American or otherwise) is not hurting. Still, there is a drop, as there is a drop everywhere else. There's a little something called global recession these days, as you may have noticed :-) And that has depressed tourism not only in France but in Spain, Italy, and various other places this year.

Still, I am sure Americans have nursed their "anger" towards the French (I am not familiar with the reasons) after 9/11 and made a conscious effort not to go there. Although, in my humble opinion, a little childish to single out and demonize a country who just disagreed, along with Germany, Russia, and pretty much everyone else, that does not surprise me, from a nation that gave us "freedom fries" :-)
