See my other post. If it is an irrevocable charity trust, it just means that he has no control over it. Doesn't mean that he won't benefit. Just means that when he dies (and probably his wife), then it'll go to charity.

He still benefits, both for tax purposes and for direct long term income.

Bush's tax cuts for the rich cost charities 10 billion a year. The GOP should quit pretending it cares about charities. I personally believe Cheney is lying about the charity business just because he got caught. The first report about it didn't mention charity, it mentioned it being in a secret blind trust.
