sounds like some industries paid some big bucks to avoid the tax.. like political donations by cookie industry... Sounds like our tax system in states.

The GST has been the best tax introduced into Canada in years Wow ! I agree with that. They could raise it even and reduce income tax so savers and investors are not penalized...

What I detested about the Liberals was saying they would cancel it when they knew it was a good idea and wouldn't have the bees to do it themselves..

The history of the Canadian Dollar is an example of how they jump on to the Gold Standard at any external problem that arises. We at one time had tens of millions of ounces and now we got acouple of hundred thousand. I think your on to something get rid of GST and strictly go to the consumption tax of some sort. A overall tax deduction so businesses and families can cull in their own debts and let us make the decisions on how we should spend that money that is rightfully ours in the first place. Cheers!
