I take your point, but I think that society needs to make a bit of an adjustment in that because too many are of late taking advantage of that benefit of the doubt. We are becoming a society of wronged people. We have too many hurt feelings, too ready a claim of victimhood of all kinds. We are too aggressive about seeking justice against those who offend us.

I think that any claim of harm has to be respectfully acknowledged and investigated. I do not think that we can any longer reasonably assume that harm has occurred just because it is claimed. That's sad, IMO, but reality. Way too many over-sensitive whiners in the world for that to work.
