Hey, I haven't "rejected" any number. I have said flat out that I am curious to know how brutal/fatal Saddam's regime was. I asked for sources. I wouldn't reject ANY number ANY credible source says, really.

I just realized that I keep hearing these remarks of "Saddam killed xxxx/year", but never saw a source. That's why I asked.

Now if you care to contribute with, say, a "credible" source or even with your own opinion or estimate - that would mean something to me and a point of discussion. (

I don't know. I asked. Is that a crime?

Please don't tell me that you have been debating the need for the Iraq war all this time without having any vague idea about how much brutality Saddam has been inflicting on the Iraqi people!}

Err, me? Debating THE NEED for war?

I must have done something to deserve this comment, but I cannot think of what it could possibly be at this point :-) So I will just take time to think about this.

Yes, of course, his regime was brutal. He was a dictator and they tend to be a little oppressive. The question was not whether he is an angel or if he killed people at a whim. It was if there are credible statistics of just how many people were killed/tortured throughout Saddam's rule in Iraq, per annum.

Anyway, I will try to find some sources.
