You have always had the right to refuse telephone solicitations. What we are talking about is censorship before the fact. A particularly nasty abridgment of freedom.

Saying "you can't talk to me in my home", is neither censorship nor a nasty abridgement of freedom.

I don't even dislike telemarketers all that much. I was even one myself for three weeks. I just don't think that freedom of speech includes the ability to speak in others homes when they don't want you to do so.

But this is commercial speech. I thought that commercial speech was not protected by the 1st Amendment. If not, how is it constitutional to ban cigarette ads in magazines?
