As long as the Palestinians know their place, Israel will just continue to make life a bit difficult so that they move out.

Talking about reality:
Israel ran a terror campaign to drive the Palestinians out. NO ONE goes galloping out, leaving their homes in order to come back later. Jews didn't in the 30's. It's nice propaganda but it doesn't follow human nature. It sounds like something developed by spin doctors.
It's the same logic as expanding the settlements. Once the squatters are there it becomes part of negotiations to get them out (also cash payments by US taxpayers). Once they got the Palestinians out it becomes difficult for them to come back. (And payments will have to be made by US taxpayers.
