I tell you, Bill, something serious is going on under the surface that provoked this silly tempest.

This whole story got going last weekend with an article in the "Washington Post," claiming that an "Admin Source" said that two Admin insiders had called six reporters. Without this statement, no big deal.

This story is not being proved. If it isn't, some reporters at the Washington Post are in big trouble.

First of all.
You don't know where or what Mrs. Wilson has been doing the past 5 years. The CIA does.

Second
There is a dispute of what the word "serve" or "serving" means in the context of the statute. The CIA does. And so does the Justice department for that matter. The Justice Department wouold not be investigating unless an investigation is in order. You best assume Ashcroft is already aware of the intent and letter of this statute as well as its applicability WRT Mrs. Wilsons's service over the past 5 years.

Third.
Maybe the CIA reported this officially or unofficially in July and Justice has done nothing. Perhaps the CIA blew their Media whistle because they are fed up.

Fourth.
I am surprised, silly me, that your first premise is to characterize this as an unwarranted attack on the Bush Administration. Look beyond your preconceived notions at the facts.
