I would say that foreign countries with land disputes and other differences have a few choices other than assasinating each other's political leaders. How about a sincere attempt to meet Palestinian basic resettlement demands and a halt on further West Bank and Jerusalem encroachment?

"Who us compromise? That would disturb our basic intention of always getting our way."

I can't make correct decisions for either side. As long as each group thinks that one step aside is really eventually ten steps back they will never dance gracefully. The question is: is it? does <>1=-10?

The Israelis want to meet all Palestinian demands except for a few key concepts:

1. The Israelis will not allow any resettlement of any of the pre 1948 Arabic homes in that area except for a small token amount, which represents 2% of Arabic demands.

2. The Israelis want to completely settle the West Bank, and remove all other inhabitants.

3. The Isrealis want to occupy every square foot of Jerusalem, and to have no other inhabitants.

4. Whatever form any future Palestinian state in the area takes, the Israelis wish that it mainly be smallish, fragmented, have a disconnected land base, not have any real effective self determination, and that it exist under the permanent threat of Israeli armed invasion at a moment's notice without the Isrealis having any fear of rebuke by international opinion.

Unfortunately while the above precepts may be just peachy to many Isrealis who exist in the momentary sunshine of their hegemony it most certainly guarantees that the resulting chaos will germinate the most steadfast resistance to their perceived autocracy.
