Hello Eva, <<trenche>> … I am afraid I am guilty in infecting Pezz, using odd language such as dollops and tranches (excuse the long post, but I am doing it for own purpose later :0)

In my 'language', a tranche is the full amount I am willing to bet on any financial instrument, and the absolute money amount will vary depending on what the instrument is (i.e. a tranche of NOOF is less in absolute $ value than a tranche of NEM)

(a) The mathematical average size of my position in 56 stocks is 0.32% of gross asset, which also is about my normally ‘allowed’ concentration in any one stock.

The largest position, Lumacom, is 3.58% of gross asset, had capital-gained from an original position of less than 0.6% of gross asset; that was extremely daring of me, given the ‘double-average weight allocation’ on such an unknown. >>

A tranche is made up of three dollops, and I may ease into a position in three trades of one dollop each, or wade in with a full tranche right of the get go. Sometimes I may start by wagering two tranches, and quickly claim gain on one of the two tranches before I out-stay my welcome, leaving the other tranche to fend for itself during the LTBH period.

Positions grow, and so a tranche will grow as well, but can then be redefined as two tranches, or still one tranche (as appetite for that financial instrument may have also grown).

Sometimes a position may happily have grown so much that it can no longer be regarded as a single or even multiple tranches, but becomes a mind-bending and mood-altering position size the otherwise meaningless daily price squiggles of which can make or break a day ... such as:

(b) Subscribed to private placement of expanded Lumacom ( finance.yahoo.com ) shares at 0.065/shr for a whole lot of shares, aiming for returns of 50% in the far distant future. >>

(b) Watching Lumacom hit AUD 0.15/share Message 18352292 , an awesome 130% above my entry price

Not too bad for 6 days of doing absolutely nothing, or, rather, in Grace's language, putting money to work because I have to:0) >>

Good afternoon Pezz, Today's Report: Had a relatively busy day at the office, met some folks outside the office, and did thus:

LUMACOM (LUM.AX) uk.finance.yahoo.com
Subject 53628 has gained by 6-fold since I bought in, is my largest single holding, and now accounts for 3.56% of my expanded NAV (as reference, NEM accounts for 2.66% of my NAV) – there is nothing quite like nano-cap growth; >>

Also, I am watching Lumacom uk.finance.yahoo.com zooming up in awe and shock fashion (rising 9.3% in one day, but the increase accounts for 62% of my original cost), on speed, reminding me of the good old days of 1999 ! >>

Hi Pezz, I am simply peeing myself in excitement. The latest update indicates that today trading saw Lumacom uk.finance.yahoo.com rose 85% of my original cost basis in a single trading session, bringing gains since purchase to 7.46 fold :0))) >>

… I now wait patiently for announcement concerning LUM.AX's US activities. The waiting is easy as I count my blessings, which I did yesterday, and now, again, today uk.finance.yahoo.com .
No, it is not a misprint, I am up 7% over yesterday's closing, on healthy volume, or another 50% over my original purchase price, and thus indicate a paper gain of an even 8-fold since December of 2002.
For once I am hoping that tomorrow is a week day, thus a trading day, so that I can count my blessings once more :0) >>

Hello Pezz, Today's Report:
A relaxing day overall. Only nuisance was having had to write a short note and put it in the fax machine.
… I am thinking that perhaps the facade can be covered up with two large LumaSigns from lumacom.com.au . Speaking of which, Lumacom price action is coming along swimmingly uk.finance.yahoo.com , tacking on AUD 0.065/shr upto now, which also happens to be my cost basis :0) >>

Hello Pezz, Today’s Report:
I traded out of 1/11th of my Lumacom uk.finance.yahoo.com at AUD 0.56/shr. These are not the shares I had gotten at AUD 0.065 Message 18336343 , but the shares I had added here Message 18478216 <<January 22nd, 2003>> at AUD 0.26/shr, thus netting 115% gain and still riding on the wallop of a position bought for AUD 0.065/shr.
I simply could not stand the day after night after day of gains piled on top of profit and cushioned by more gains. I am only human :0) >>

On a separate matter, I am watching Lumacom do its usual thing uk.finance.yahoo.com , up another 90-100% of my original purchase cost of AUD 0.065/shr.
The trajectory is tracking properly, momentum is strong, guidance system OK, and soon, to da moooon :0) >>

Hello Pezz, Today’s Report:
Today is a public holiday. The wife did wake boarding in the morning and I read about what is supposedly happening in the world – the usual, wars, financial manias, debt alerts, political instabilities, currency chaos, and the inexorably relentless rise of the one money that rules over all cash.

… Oh, yes, and I did watch Lumacom uk.finance.yahoo.com do its usual, though at a more tepid pace, increasing in value by 77% of my original cost, now at 10.9 fold gain. I am understandably enthusiastic, because Lumacom is still a baby of a company, with most of its gains still in the future. Lum.ax is now 25% of the equity portion of my portfolio, of 5.25% of gross asset. I am not used to such concentration, but I am leaving it well alone, because I can deal with the ambiguity and not fuss with the danger, focusing on the glory that will still be, and the months and months of Pezz taunting :0) >>

Yes, well, now, back to my majestically lovely and ever faithful Lumacom :0)
Yikes, it started down on opening ... ouch, but, I must not run, but hold, ever so tightly, because it is the start of a mania born of madness >>

For IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN ! I DO NOT KNOW IF I CAN WITHSTAND THE PRESSURE ANY LONGER ! My precious Lumacom is once more on the march, logging 92% of my orginal purchase cost up to this moment>>

I see you have been introduced to Jay...."trench" is my version (poor mans) of Jay's tranche. In my world 3 trenches equals a full position . 5 "trenches would be an over allotment where as 1 1/2 trenches a half position.. It's a specific dollar amount......In short I made it up.

Eva, pezz is using Jays old fashioned term for a part of a position, tranche also as in tranche du pain, slice of bread :o)

Jay has that old world thing going on sometimes..
