It undoubtedly was some ambiguous chicken scratch notes that could be interpreted any way you want.

This of course means that they could tie up IMR in (Argentinian) courts for years. Hence the blackmail
Unfortunately I am sure they will have to throw a few shares AQI's way as you suggested. I doubt this will have a material impact on IMR.

To me it represents dirty money.

Again I am sure that AQI would not be starting the whole charade if they did not feel the deposit was worthwhile.
