Thanks. A (typically) well informed reply. I totally agree with you about Zimmer. As far as Clemens pitch, hmmm, I see your point, but of course if you remove it from the context of Saturday's game, it wasn't really THAT hostile an act. Roger of course is no stranger to controversy and does have a rep as a head-hunter. If the Sox go down, it will be their pitching that's the primary culprit, I'd say about 80% of the fans nationwide are rooting for them, and it would be a shame if we don't get the Bambino vs Billy Goat series....<NG>

Nice post, reaper. Did you see what Bill Lee said about Zimmer?

"Maybe it knocked some sense into him. It's pretty hard to grab a bowling ball by the ears."

Zimmer engineers the '78 collapse. Clemens learns to pitch in the post-season for the Yankees after sucking in October for Boston. There must be a special place in hell for former Red Sox-ers who go to New York to win championships after blowing it in Boston (you can add Boggs to that list too).

Gotta stop paying attention after Labor Day. -ng

OT/Nicely put, Reaper. I was saying to a fellow Sox fan yesterday that ONLY the Red Sox coulda figured out some way to pour cold water on this post season. This was certainly not the way I expected, but that's the life of a Sox fan.

I agree Clemens isn't without blame... but strategically, that pitch was brilliant if it was intentionally. It was almost as smart as Pedro's pitch was dumb. Talk about putting your offense on the defensive! Didja see how Manny bailed out the first few pitches from Clemens? Sheesh. Not that I blame him. I wouldn't want a 90 MPH baseball coming my way.

Also, don't forget Garcia jumping into the bullpen. Ya don't see that every day!

OT

>Pedro had nothing, at least early, on Saturday;...
That was most surprising to me. It was almost like he had this planned, like he was expecting Yanks to take a lot of pitches, so he wanted to throw his offspeed stuff for called strikes, and have enough stamina for later in the game to try and pitch complete game or close to it. After he got rocked, he realized, "enough with this crap", that he'd better start throwing fastballs to stay in the game...

>all that said, we are toast.
Wake showed his brass ones in last night's game... IMO D-Lowe can pitch a reasonable game today, and Wells is hittable. Game 6 is probably a loss, so it will come down to Game 7, where everybody would be available, including Wake <g><ng>.

This ALCS script so far has been amazing... pure gold for the press and the media...
