I would think demographic issues would exclude Russia at some point....

only ones I would really bet on would be China and Brazil. If the BJP can start moving away from socialism, and cooperate better with Indian ex-pats overseas, India would have a good shot.

Note that all the countries mentioned have big land masses and large populations.

Given expected exchange rate adjustments, relative to gold, I doubt Japan will be in the top six at 2050.
