witness Game 4 of ALDS. 35,000 people in Fenway were screaming for Grady to take Burkett out after rock solid 5 innings (1 run allowed) and 96 pitches, yet Grady inexplicably left him for the 6th. The next 4 plays were single, lineout, triple, and 2 run homer. Only then Grady took him out.

>I think it will go 7, and be close to the very end
It must. No way baseball gods not allow for winner-take-all Pedro-Rocket rematch... FOX would do decent as well <g>

jeezus, and now the Cubs have lost as well.....

i'm sure that is the plan. in Game 4 against the A's, Burkett pitched OK for 5 (though he came within about 5 feet of giving up a Pesky-pole grand slam to Eric Byrnes; he somehow got out of bases-loaded none-out in the 2nd with only one run) and Grady inexplicably left him in for the 6th. Single. Liner drilled to the hole that Mueller somehow grabs for the first out. Adam Melhuse, a cather who cannot hit, triples to the right field corner. Grady sits on his hands. Dye home run. Somebody wakes Grady up, and he pulls Burkett and puts in Wake, who gets 5 outs with no more damage to bridge to Williamson.

So anyway, expect to see Wake in the game at some point today, though not until Burkett has given up 3-5 consecutive line drives and likely 4 runs. In other words, when its too late.

<<if Grady leaves him in after 5 MAX, he's a moron>>

Grady Little is a moron. The guy can't manage his way out of a paper bag. Whether he leaves Burkett in for more than 5 really only tells us if he's asleep or not.

I just can't wait to see David Ortiz get thrown out trying to steal second on a 3-2 count tonite.

Cheers
