Al, Questioning the motives and actions of your elected officials is not only a freedom, it is a duty.

Ah, the liberal definition of "patriotism" pops up again.

One wishes there had been more "liberals" around Europe, 1935ish...

That's a bogus argument created by liberals tired of being branded "unpatriotic" by conservatives.

That's a not much of a cross to bear. You are off the mark.

Al

Ah, the liberal definition of "patriotism" pops up again.

I know it's my civic responsibility to be involved in the community and in government, but I never heard of any "duty" to question anyone's motives or actions. That's a bogus argument created by liberals tired of being branded "unpatriotic" by conservatives.

Bull.......you must have been sleeping while taking American history. Look up Boston Tea Party.......true Americans did not take lightly "taxation without representation". They spoke up and fired the shot that was heard round the world. Questioning your gov't is as American as apple pie and motherhood.

Its only because this administration undertakes activities that are questionable and suspiciously unAmerican, that suddenly conservatives raise the notion that questioning the motives of the president is unAmerican. A person who calls Congressman James McDermott unpatriotic is no better than cow excrement and is the one who is unpatriotic, not the Honorable McDermott.

Conservatives often wonder why there are references made between them, and Hitler. Under a fascist regime, criticism of and objections to the policies of one's gov't are not allowed. That's what makes the conservatives' objections sound very Hitlerian.

If conservatives keep harping on this issue, there will be a war on terrorism right here. Conservatives have no right to undertake a questionable war and expect that their will be obedient silence from the rest of us. It just doesn't work that way here in these united states!
